M.A.C. "Patisserie": Swatches + Review!

I know I just did a post on lipsticks that I'm planning on wearing throughout the Summer months ahead, but… well… truth be told: this is what has been on my lips the past couple of weeks. Granted, I have been wearing those other lipsticks as well but nowhere near as much as this one. The thought of not having this in my purse at all times and on my lips mostly-always just kills me right now.
It's beautiful. It's perfect. It's "Patisserie".

If you watched my most recent haul video then you've already seen me gush over this lipstick but I really do feel like it needs a blog post of its own. It freaking deserves it. I suppose it's the reason why so many other bloggers have done posts devoted to M.A.C.'s "Patisserie" as well; no-brainer there!
So, to not add twenty more paragraphs to the already 700-page novel devoted to this nude beauty, I'm going to keep this fairly short and sweet. "Patisserie" is the most perfect nude lipstick I have ever encountered and stands true to the lustre finishes from M.A.C. in most ways. Similar in the sense that I find these to be the most comfortable finish M.A.C. makes (apart from their Cremesheen finishes); they're more moisturizing than a typical lipstick but still gives a bold, albeit semi-sheer, wash of color to the lips. Where "Patisserie" differs though is also in the finish… there's glitter in it? I end that sentence with a question mark because, while there absolutely is glitter in this lipstick, it's not noticeable until "Patisserie" has worn off of your lips.

You can see the difference in the fresh swatch on my hand below compared to the (admittedly awkward) picture of my lips after I had wiped "Patisserie" away.

Whether or not that little quirk matters to any of you though is debatable; I haven't heard anyone mention it before, and truthfully it doesn't bother me in the slightest, but I think it's worth noting. I know that some people are absolutely opposed to glitter in their lip products (or any makeup products in general) so it's a good little tidbit to know about. Unless you're extremely good at touching up your lipstick throughout the day then eventually there will be specks of glitter lurking on your lips at some point or another between applications of "Patisserie".

Quirks and compliments aside, "Patisserie" really does speak for itself. It's that perfect rosy-brown nude for days when you need your lips to scream subtle sophistication, the best thing to pair with any sort of dramatic eye makeup, and best of all it's that quintessential oh-sh*t-I-need-to-leave-NOW-if-I-want-to-catch-my-bus-but-I-still-need-to-figure-out-what-lipstick-to-put-on color. No matter what you're wearing or what the occasion, "Patisserie" will look good without even trying.

Have you tried M.A.C.'s "Patisserie"?
Love it? Hate it?
What's your perfect nude lipstick?
Do share!

xoxo - Cassie

  2. I hardly ever notice the glitter, to me it's very much just a sheer wash of colour. But yes, it's such a pitch perfect rosy nude. I'm so glad you like it just as much as I do :) I was seriously considering buying a backup when I was overseas since I don't think the shade is available in Australia but I managed to talk myself out of it...

    1. Yup, agreed, the glitter is definitely an after thing when I notice it. You're definitely one of the people that made me feel the needs for this color haha :) I wouldn't blame you if you had bought a backup… let me know if you ever need one!

  3. I haven't tried Patisserie yet (I only have 1 M.A.C. lipstick ... I know), but I love Tarte's Angelic Nude, and YSL's Nude in Private. I have very rosy lips, so generally my nudes lean towards the pink end of the spectrum. I've been wanting to try Patisserie (in addition to the 19 others saved in my favorites on the M.A.C. site) for ages, and we have similar skin tones, so I'm hoping it will work for me! Seriously, gorgeous as always, Cassie.

    1. That's okay Hannah you don't need a million lipsticks (like a certain someone here *coughcoughihaveproblems*)! Definitely give this one a try though if you're interested, it's so lovely :) And thank you so so much for the kindness <3

  5. Hmmm....I think I have a dupe for that...Rimmel Airy Fairy, a 5$ drugstore lippie! Pâtisserie is a little pinker, but overall, especially on the lips, they are all spot on the same. I would be interested to hear your opinion?

    1. I'll have to check Kate, I *do* own Airy Fairy… they're quite different if I'm remembering correctly though? Alright I just went and compared them and while they're similar they're actually different and give a super different look on me. Airy Fairy is MUCH more blue-toned and opaque (also a bit rosier) while Patisserie is a softer, sheerer yellow-toned nude. I suppose it makes a difference what color your natural lips are! It would make Patisserie look much different, you know? :)

  6. This looks like a really good your-lips-but-better shade. It's so pretty and I'm not even a huge fan of nudes. Nice choice.
