NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder: Swatches + Review!!

Get ready for a picture heavy post folks; this product deserves to be pimped to the fullest extent (and I have no shame putting on my pink faux fur coat and grill made of gum wrappers to do so).

Take the jump to read and see what the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder is all about (which is everything, by the way; if Aphrodite and Narcissus were to have a love child this would be it).

The NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder was on my radar since its conception (well, okay, maybe just since the first hushed whispers started going around the interweb) so, needless to say, the minute this was released I headed to Sephora in spastic joy, wiped the drool from my chin and controlled my tremors, then swiped my credit card at the register in euphoric bliss.

When I got home I was thrilled to see all of the useless gizmos NARS threw into the little box; a travel bag to wrap your compact in (do I need it? No. Do I use it anyways? DUH), a product description in too many languages to care, and a stupidly beautiful applicator sponge with the NARS logo embossed on the front side.
Thank you NARS for realizing that beauty freaks probably care a lot more about what's on the outside (rather than just the inside) than they care to admit.

Same beautiful compact case that you're used to (who cares that the rubberized finish attracts all of the dirt in the world? It feels like HEAVEN) but a smidgeon bigger than the blush compacts that you may be used to (refer to the hand reference above to get a feel for sizing).

I went into pretty thorough detail in my collective haul video about how f***ing fantastic this powder is, so do check that out if you haven't already to get a good read on what this does for your face.

To sum things up though: the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder absorbs and controls excess oil on your face and, though it's translucent, catches the light just right to give your face a subtle glow that truly lends you a look of flawlessness.
I can't even BEGIN to tell you how many times people have told me how flawless I look since I started using this powder and I don't think I have to tell you but I am far from!!

Left: Face with just foundation / Right: Foundation set with NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder

I said it in the aforementioned video but I really don't know that this powder is something you can show the effects of on camera.
However, I think that's what I love about it: it makes your SKIN look flawless rather than making your MAKEUP look flawless. That distinction may be slight but it really does make a difference in how confidently you carry yourself.

So there you have it!!
I know this review was long but I really wanted to be thorough (like said, I wanted to put my pimp hat on for you all!! This little beaut is my current main squeeze *nudgenudge* [what am I saying!??!?]) and let you all know that this product is AMAZING.
I honestly can't recommend the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder enough and highly encourage you all to check it out if you're wanting to make a true investment in your face.

Have you tried the NARS Light Reflecting Setting Powder?
Love it? Hate it?
What's your setting powder of choice?
Do share!!

xoxo - Cassie

  1. I was seriously looking into this just now because you raved about it in your video!!! *O* Would you recommend this for an oily skin gal? 'cause I have trouble with things lasting on my face through out the day.. it's ridiculouuuusss how face makeup just vanishes from my face at the end of the day... it's like magic.. and not the good kind. >__<

Great review though! (: I will definitely put this on my 'things to check out in sephora' list~

  2. ALL THE WANTS *twitches* I'm using MAC MSF Natural and it's hit major pan and I can't wait to use it up so I can justify buying this beauty! When ever I swatch it, it feels like I'm swatching silk. Can't wait!

    1. It really is like swatching silk... but maybe if silk was also made of chocolate and diamonds (ohhhh what a combo that would be). I hope you run out of your MSF soon so you can pick this up!! All of your wants will be fulfilled instantly :D

  3. Okay this sounds AMAZING. Powders like this are hard to show on camera, so I totally understand about that, but even just the swatch on your finger was all I needed to see! I have oily/combo skin so this sounds PERFECT for perfecting the skin! Yes, I said perfect twice in 1 sentence and it was totally necessary for NARS. ;p Will DEFINITELY check this out next time I'm at Sephora.

    1. Oh good I'm glad that finger swatch helped!! Doing a heavy dose like that is scary because it's so obviously a 'white' powder but it's the only way to show the glow! I have oily/combo skin as well so this really should be perfect for you; I hope you love it as much as I do... let me know!! :D

  5. Your writing. OMG have you considered a career in feature writing or even fiction? "Rubberised finish attracts all the dirt in the world". Seriously, I feel like filching that sentence for my Facebook status.
In case you think that was shameless flattery, I worked at the editorial of a magazine (health and book reviews) for some three years :)

I have a really oily skin and love Blot Powder from MAC, it`s super mattifying, which I like. But this beauty from Nars looks amazing. I think, I will buy it, thanks to you!
