NOTD: O.P.I. Get Your Number

Get ready for one of the most picture heavy NOTD posts (or maybe even posts in general?) you've ever seen. I took over 200 photos of this polish trying to capture its beauty.
TWO. HUNDRED. PHOTOS.
To put that into perspective I usually take 10-20 for any given nail polish post (if that).

O.P.I.'s "Get Your Number" is just one of the most beautifully and uniquely faceted polishes I have ever had the honor of adorning my nails with... its beauty is unrivaled.
My tears are aplenty.
Take the jump if you can handle it.

I mentioned in my latest haul video (around the 7:52 mark) that I first saw this polish in a post by one of my most favorite bloggers (sleepandwater). I also may have said that I hated the look of these sand polishes without a top coat...
I WAS MISTAKEN.
SO WRONG.
ALL WRONG.

I had my Seche Vite ready to slap on top of "Get Your Number" while painting my nails yesterday but I just couldn't do it after I got this polish to full opacity (three coats by the way, but it's SO worth that extra effort); the beauty of this matte yet semi-sparkly polish was overwhelming and my heart couldn't fathom (or handle; I may have died #dramaqueen) covering it with a top coat.

I think what originally made me think that the texture of these sand polishes was going to be off-putting were some misleading pictures on Google.
When you go to take a macro shot of this polish the camera can make it look a lot grittier than it actually is. This absolutely has texture to it but it's not sharp (it doesn't snag on clothes, cat hair doesn't get caught in it, etc.), rather it's quite soft like that of super fine sand paper (a bit more abstract of a comparison would be thanks to my dinner last night: it feels very similar to buttered toast #stopjudgingme #it'sagoodanalogy).

I know, I know... you're all thinking "Cassie, these photos are all the same!!" BUT THEY'RE NOT. YOU NEED TO SEE ALL OF THEM TO UNDERSTAND THE BEAUTY OF "GET YOUR NUMBER"!!!
Its color shifts from a bright aquamarine to a deep florescent blueberry depending on the lighting. The bits of glitter also shift from matching the polish in color to being the opalescent rainbow sparkles like they appear to be in the bottle.

After a hundred some photos were taken of "Get Your Number" in the daytime, I figured there was no way this polish could baffle me further in its shifty gorgeousness (which I'm delighted to find out is a real word, by the way).
But then the sun started going down...

This polish... I can't even.
Words.
WHAT ARE WORDS IN THE FACE OF SUCH BEAUTY???

The answer?: Nothing.

THE PICTURES. THEY'RE ALL THE SAME AND THEY'RE ALL WRONG.

Yeah yeah mommy, cry me a river...

Thank goodness Galileo's little face is there to keep my sanity in check. I figured I'd post a couple of pictures of him as a reward to those of you who made it this far into my extremely-way-too-long NOTD post ;)

I don't think I need to sum things up because my polish-feelings are fairly apparent here.
Just please go out and get this polish if you are able; it really is the prettiest polish in the land and I can't even begin to imagine that it would disappoint anyone.

Have you tried O.P.I.'s "Get Your Number"?
Love it? Hate it (impossible)?
Have you ever seen a polish quite this pretty before?
Do share!!

xoxo - Cassie

  7. I feel the same way about Zoya Pixie Dust Nyx.....GAH GORGEOUS. I wish blue looked better with my skin tone, but you are right that nail polish is beauty. I think you are in Boston, and I hope you are OK.

    1. Haha glad you like this polish even if blue polish isn't your best friend!! I'd wear it anyways ;) And yes, I am in Boston and am fine. Quite shaken up from all that's happened so close to me but at least I can say I'm unharmed. My heart is going out to those who lost their eight year old child and anyone hurt by the monsters who did this.

  8. Cassie! I'm glad you're OK! (I hope I'm not mistaken and you do actually live in Boston). So horrible, I hope they figure out what exactly happened and who's behind it.

    1. Maria!! Yes, I'm fine! I actually posted this quite a few hours before the bombing happened... otherwise I don't think I would have been able to haha. I'm pretty shaken and overall lost for words over what has happened so close to where I'm at. I hope they catch whoever did this as well; they're clearly sick and have ruined many lives today.

  11. LOL at this whole post - I absolutely love your enthusiasm for Get Your Number. And no, the pictures didn't look all the same to me ;) I'm glad this one was a hit with you - and that you refrained from the top coat and managed to appreciate it in all its matte, crusty/pebbly/buttered toast glory ;)
