Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush "Candy Glow": Swatches + Review!

Blush is probably the easiest thing for me to resist in the realm of beauty products available because, when it comes down to it, I feel that it's the least noticeable change you can make in your makeup routine. On the eyes you can go from nudes, to rainbows, to thick lines or thin; false lashes, rhinestones, layers of mascara or subtle definition; literally every color imaginable for the lips from blue, to pink, to purple in an infinite number of formulas and finishes. But blush? It's pink, red, or berry (or a mixture of those three) with either a matte or shimmer finish… not very exciting in comparison if you ask me.
However, those feelings of indifference as to what graces my cheeks on the daily changed when I saw the Too Faced Sweethearts Perfect Flush Blush in "Candy Glow". It's a freaking heart for Beyzus sake! I had to have it and promptly begged Santa for its inclusion in my Christmas bounty… and squealed with schoolgirl delight when I opened it on Christmas morning.

Even though the packaging had me at hello, I was fairly skeptical upon first interactions with my new blush-friend. Too Faced knows how to make a pretty package but I've swatched many of their palettes and heard plenty of reviews mirroring my disappointment in terms of consistently poor formula quality. Their powder products (shadows, blushes, what have you) can tend towards the patchy and dry rather than the smooth and buttery we all gluttonously covet. Since I hadn't really heard anyone talk about this blush though I was hoping that meant it was at least mediocre… at least, theoretically, it wasn't going to be bad enough to have warranted ranting reviews thus far.

The one comment I've heard sprinkled around the internet (mainly in reviews on Sephora) is that this blush doesn't show up on the skin… well, I'm happy to report that the human race is consistently cray and these reviews were wrong. Okay, okay, to say they were wrong is harsh of me but I truly do believe their claims are at least 98% unwarranted. While this blush isn't wham-bam-thank-you-ma'am pigmented like tarte's "natural beauty" it definitely has color to it; if you're fairer skinned this will be a beautifully natural looking blush or else it will be a delightful highlight on darker skin colors, different from your typical white/yellow shades.

I absolutely adore how light and natural this is on the skin and how it lends a subtle glow that truly invigorates your complexion. No need for the extra step of a highlighter as it's basically built into the shimmer (though honestly it's more of a 'warmth' and/or 'glow' since only one of the colors in the blush has noticeable shimmer to it) and no need for touchups during the day because this lasts a good 6-8 hours depending on how often you're running, sweating, or participating in other activities that don't fare well with makeup.
Too Faced's "Candy Glow" is a gorgeous blush for any season and I'd highly recommend it to anyone who appreciates the beauty of a subtle blush (you know, to go along with those obnoxiously fabulous purple lipsticks you wear all too often).

By the way: Galileo says hello/meow/zzz~

  9. i think it looks great :) I think you might change your overall view of blushes if you tried the sleek cosmetics range, I've got bright pink, pale pink and even orange blush. I am currently obsessing over their eyeshadow palettes and the sugar blush palette. i've just got to get it! I don't know if you've reviewed anything by them yet?

    1. Thanks so much Natalie! I'd love to try things from Sleek but am very skeptical about ordering from them because of many bad reviews I've read about their shipping to the US :/ Either way thank you for the recommendations!

  11. I've only ever wanted to try because of the gorgeous packaging! That's usually the way I get drawn in to love a blush, packaging first, color second, everything else afterwards. It looks gorgeous on you, missy and does what I think a blush is supposed to do and give you a very healthy looking flush! :)

  13. I wanted this SO badly. It's a heart!! But I'm sad to say that I'm part of the 98%. I tried it on at Sephora and you could barely see it on my skin. Of course the shimmer was noticeable, but the color was not. So on my skin tone it's a highlighter basically. I find it hard to get through highlighters so this was a skip for me sadly :( It's precious xx

    1. Oh no that's too bad Coco :( I can definitely see this being a beautiful highlighter on you but can totally understand not wanting to spend money on such a huge thing of highlighter when you already have some. At least you can enjoy pictures online haha? :)

  14. Galileo provides the adorableness :) I love your lip colour in these pictures by the way. I'm not 100% sold on this ... I think it's because the packaging just seems really bulky to me and a bit gimmicky, and it's more like a baked texture that's overly shimmery for my tastes? And it just seems too generic of a colour to warrant adding to my collection. It is very pretty on you though and I like the glowiness it adds to the complexion.

    1. Hahah Galileo really is always good for a dose of cuteness :) And thank you! I was wearing Revlon's Matte balm in "Shameless" with the OOC Lip Tar Stained Gloss in "Dekadent" on top. Anyways I could see this looking gimmicky and whatnot and on your skin I'm sure it would be nothing but a highlighter so not worth it. It's nice for pale girls like me though!

  15. I've felt like I've been able to get to know some people pretty well through watching youtube and reading their blogs, but this is the first time I've felt like I've gotten to know a cat so well, and in such a short amount of time. I'm gonna say, its a little weird to me that I feel this way about a cat I met through the internet! lol it sounds like I'm talking about a cat online dating website or something. he's just so so darn cute, and funny! you both make me laugh in every video.
