Revlon Lip Butter "Juicy Papaya": Swatches + Review (+ Makeup Emotions)!!

To get back into the blogging swing of things I figured I'd to something comfortable; something familiar; something that I've worn nearly every day since, oh, I don't know, the MINUTE I bought it.
Juicy Papaya is my everything... the perfect formula (creamy, soft, plus keeps lips moisturized and full of color for 5+ hours without touchups), the perfect color (crack open a papaya and that's what color this is; a coral melon), and the perfect addition to my bag (which has become its permanent residence; I'm thinking of setting up a P.O. Box for it so I can send fan mail and love letters).

A lot of people seem to be under the impression, at least according to several comments I received in my "Top 5 Summer Beauty Products" video, that Juicy Papaya is a limited edition shade but I can assure you (with quite a bit of confidence) that this is absolutely not the case!! I still see it on Ulta's websiteCVS' website, and even Revlon's website! This was one of the four new shades released in Revlon's Summer 2013 collection but the colors have made it into the permanent collection.
So don't worry if you didn't get your hands on this beaut when it was first released; you can purchase bliss in Lip Butter form the next time you head to the drugstore!

Now, onto the swatches:

Try and tell me that isn't one of the most gorgeous lip colors you've ever seenOHNOWAITDON'TBOTHERIALREADYKNOW.

Seriously, I have nothing bad to say about Juicy Papaya (well, apart from the fact that it melts in temperatures of 90° and above but hey, I blame the weather for that not the product; JUICY PAPAYA IS MY BABY DON'T TRY TO FAULT IT FOR MOTHER NATURE'S STEAMING GROIN). I'm fairly positive it's going be the first lip product I'll ever have to repurchase (never have I ever been this close to the bottom of a lipstick tube) and I have no problem with shelling over my money once more to have Juicy Papaya in my life always.
Alright, I'm getting quite emotional over a lip product... can we just take that as being enough of a review?
I need a Kleenex.

Have you tried Revlon's "Juicy Papaya"?
Love it as much as I do?
What's the first lip product you've repurchased/what's your most used lipstick?
Do share!!

xoxo - Cassie

  2. It's NOT limited edition?!?! Oh thank the makeup gods! I thought I had lost out for sure. Thanks for the amazing review, Cassie. I really do love the look of Juicy Papaya and it was the first one that sold out on the display so I never got to buy it the first time around. Maybe now I will form a small hoard of it in my closet, just to be safe.

    1. I really don't think it's a LE!! Seriously! It's there to stay and Revlon would be a FOOL to get rid of it; makes me want to run out and buy 800 backups for myself as well though just at the thought haha. But thank you always for your sweet comments, really! You deserve about 800 Juicy Papayas yourself so go get yourself some as a gift to your sweet self ;)

  3. That is such a gorgeous color!! I don't know why I haven't purchased my first Lip Butter yet. Their color range is to die for, and the formula seems like perfection!

Setting up a PO Box would be fun! I'm sure you'd get tons of fun stuff!

    1. Oh my gosh, you haven't tried any of the lip butters????? You really need to go pick up at LEAST one (I think I bought four on my first go and have no regrets haha); there are so many different and wonderful colors (like you said) so hopefully you'll love them as much as I (and many others) do :) And hahah no no, I didn't mean set up a P.O. Box for myself lol! I was making a joke saying I wanted to set one up for Juicy Papaya like it's a person or something so I could send it my love in fan letter form hahha ;)

    1. OOOOOO I don't know why but I've COMPLETELY passed over Raspberry Pie... until now!!! Hahah. Definitely going to pick that one up the next time I go to the drugstore; it's BEYOND gorgeous so thank you for the recommendation :D

  6. It's GOOOORGEOUS!!!! I've almost gotten this along with Pink Lemonade but then I leave them at the register because I'm like: "Ugh, 2 lip butters for $12? (with a BOGO)" Somehow that seems really expensive for Revlon lol. It's not that bad, I'm going to have to bite the bullet. It's so gorgeous x

    1. Oh no!!!!! Definitely get this one Coco, I'm sure it would look RAVISHING on you ;) And be weary of Pink Lemonade; I've heard from a lot of bloggers that the three new shades other than Juicy Papaya are a bit different than the other lip butters and don't have that great of a consistency :( But if you do get it let me know if the rumors are true because Pink Lemonade looks like a great color as well!!

  7. This is sooooo gorgeous! I almost picked it up when I saw it, but didn't for some weird reason. I'll have to get it - the swatch is great!!

  8. AHHHHH GORGEOUS! I'm really enjoying the lip butters at the moment, and unfortunately I've not seen this one in my local drugstore. I need this in my life! I wore Strawberry Tart today and noticed the consistency was slightly different than usual...I'm pretty sure it melted too. Oh well!!

    1. I've been obsessing over my lip butters once again this Summer as well :D Did you mean Strawberry Shortcake or Cherry Tart? Either way that's such a shame that the consistency changed on you, it's definitely probably because of the boiling in the awful heat D: Go get a replacement and pick up Juicy Papaya while you're at it ;)

  16. I love your enthusiasm for this product! Sadly the new shades haven't launched in backwards-and-overcharged Oz, but I shall wait patiently. The colour is gorgeous. And you have perfect teeth!

    1. Haha glad the enthusiasm was well received!! :) And oh no, I can't believe they haven't released over in Oz yet; I guess the wait will just make your imminent purchase all the sweeter! Gah, and thank you!! I guess those awkward years of braces were worth it, huh? ;)

  20. Have you tried the shade sweet tart? I saw it on pinterest and then had to track it down at a cvs... but I was so disappointed in it looking creased and not the same as the pic i saw.... and not lasting long. I have hope though and may try this shade next time.

    1. Oh no, I'm sorry to hear that!! I haven't tried out sweet tart because cool toned pinks look a bit strange on me… I have found that some of the 'matte' lip butters (the ones without glitter/sparkle) do crease and settle a bit funny though so I wouldn't recommend them as a whole. Juicy Papaya and Fig Jam are two that I can speak highly for; they both wear beautifully!! :)

  21. I'm from South Africa and currently on my third tube of this AMAZING lip colour but I don't find it has the same staying power as you do? I need to reapply quite a few times (which I don't mind as it feels so nice and glides on so smoothly). For me all it needs it better staying power and it would be the ultimate of all ultimates for me! :-)

    1. I'm sorry this doesn't last as long on you!! Though I suppose I find my lip products last a lot longer than others experience quite often… not sure if I just don't lick my lips as much or something? I'm glad you love this lip color as much as I do though!! :)

  24. OK. Our worst fear regarding juicy Papaya has come to life. Revlon has ultimately discontinued this gem of a product. I've already sent a scathing email to Revlon. (I bet a man is behind this) So now, we need to band together to get them to bring this back. I wear this color everyday even over my beloved Clinique whole lotta honey. Remember, there is strength in numbers .
