NYX Blush "Mocha": Swatches + Review!

Say hello to my current love: NYX's blush in the shade "Mocha".
With the most deceiving name (quite possibly ever?) I knew that we were going to get along from the beginning; considering I get called "Casey" (rhymes with "lacy") 85% of the time upon reading my name (Cassie), I understand that names can be confusing even when there's really no need for them to be (Mocha has a clear top so you can see what color you're buying, I've never seen a Casey spell her name C-a-s-s-i-e, etc.).

Slight rant aside, take the jump below for full swatches and review!! :)

Though I only own two NYX blushes (I'm telling you, my restraint level has been strong this year!!), they really are fantastic bargains. At only $4.99 (and often times a BOGO 50% off offer at ULTA), I really have nothing to complain about.
NYX blushes have a lovely pyramid quilting pattern, are smooth as silk, and have great pigmentation.

Please excuse yet another paper cut that I was unaware of on my figer *head hang of shame*

Like said, "Mocha" has absolutely no correlation between the delicious chocolate coffee drink and its actual color (I really can't even begin to imagine what NYX was thinking when naming this one).
"Mocha" is rather a delightful matte rosy-pink which really wakes your face up in these awkward not-winter-but-not-spring-either months we're currently trudging through.

LOVE!!!!!
If you're looking for a cheap makeup fix I'd definitely recommend perusing the NYX section at ULTA and nabbing one (or five) of these blushes; no regrets here!!

Have you tried any NYX blushes?
Love 'em? Hate 'em?
What are your favorite beauty on a budget blushes?
Do share!

xoxo - Cassie

  1. I love this one! I also love Peach (which coincidentally, is a pale pink, not a peach! lol).

    1. Haha I have Peach as well and you're very right!! It's not a peach color at all... I really have no idea where NYX gets the names for their products; even their lip gloss names are misnomers.

  3. I've been going out of my way to find a drugstore that carries the NYX blushes in Toronto but haven't had any luck yet! It looks so so lovely, I NEED THEM. Also, what lense do you use? I love how your photos turned out and I'm on the hunt for a new lense :)

    1. Oh no, I'm so sorry to hear that!! D: I'm not sure but does ULTA ship to Canada? Or maybe try looking around eBay? Shoot, that's really such a bummer to hear. And I just use the lens that came on my camera (it's not an add-on or anything fancy); my camera is an Olympus SP-56OUZ and I just adore it. I've always used Olympus cameras for photography and have nothing but wonderful things to say about them :)

  8. I love NYX blushes! I wish I could have more but there's no ULTA by me): You should try their cream blush in Glow! It's going to be awesome for a nice flush in the summer :) Mocha is really pretty, and it looks great on you! I'm now off to ogle at all their other colors! *_*

    1. Oh no!! Sorry to hear that... maybe just save up enough things you want to buy from them and then get free shipping when those things are enough to qualify (I'm sure they do free shipping for $50+ like most?)? And ooooo sounds just lovely... I'm all for a glow/flush on my face. Have fun oggling away!! :D

  9. I find that NYX has a weird naming system. Have you seen their MegaShine gloss in Beige? Nowhere near beige. It's a gorgeous, not-too-light pink. Crazy NYX people =P

  10. Such a pretty warming colour on your cheeks! No idea why it's called Mocha though :p The people who name the shades must have a sense of humour. The only NYX powder blush I have is Taupe which I bought in the hopes I could contour with it ... I haven't touched it much because most days I really can't be bothered lol!

    1. Haha yes I think they just enjoy being a misnomer company :p And oh no, use that blush (slash contour) girl!! People really seem to like Taupe as a contour from what I hear though I completely understand being lazy haha :)

  11. I can't seem to find NYX blush around here. My mom is here for a visit and she just brought me "pinched". I heard the most about it and not being able to see them it was the safest bet. But this is such a nice color too.
I also LOVE your eye make up in this!! So Beautiful!

    1. Aww thank you, you're too kind!! If I'm remembering right I've got a sort of 'how-to' for this makeup look in the works for another post so, if my mind isn't failing me, look forward to it! :)
And oh no, I'm sorry you can't seem to find NYX blushes around where you are!! maybe order from ULTA online? ULTA is really the only store I know of that carries them so I wish I could be of more help to you :(
