I slept through my class this morning (technically it's still going on now)... I couldn't help it though!! My alarm went off which prompted Galileo to snuggle up against me and purr like crazy, then when my second alarm went off I shut it off, gave Galileo one last pat (I thought), and he promptly snuggled into my nest/chest and became a purr machine.
Can you blame me for saying "eff it" and going back to sleep with my baby??? I just hope this doesn't become a trend in the future...
So, with a day off I hope to get some filming done for Youtube (it's been FOREVER; literally over a month I think) and, of course, update my blog :)
Take the jump to see how I did these awesomely subtly sparkly nails!!
e.l.f. "Medium Red" + Nicole by O.P.I. "Make U Smile"
I saw these nails on Pinterest thanks to my roommate last year but never got around to doing them myself!! She had done them on a friend and I fell in love but... well... you know. So much nail inspiration, so little time.
I originally tried this out with other polish colors, thinking the only property of the non-glitter polish was that it needed to be sheer; I tried sheer light pinks, sheer greys, sheer blues but regardless of what color I chose it either covered up the sparkles or else turned the glitter into white dots. I just don't wear red nails that often so I think that's why I was trying to find a color other than red to make these work!!
However, the minute I used my sheerest (read: cheapest; I actually got this for free with an order from e.l.f. at one point) red polish with this it finally worked and it looks BEAUTIFUL!!
These are super easy to recreate, too; like said, just pick out your sheerest red polish and your chunkiest silver glitter. Put on one coat of the red polish (over a base coat, of course) and let that dry. Then add a generous layer of glitter over that and allow it to dry as well (you could do two coats of glitter to build up the opacity of it if you want; I just made sure to load the glitter onto the brush before applying). Finally you just add a very thin top layer of your red polish and VOILA, you're done!! Of course you should apply a protective top coat as well to prevent chipping and to make your beautiful creation extra glossy ;)
Don't these nails remind you of Dorothy's ruby red heels from The Wizard of Oz? It used to be one of my favorite movies growing up even though I found it scary at many parts. My love for Wicked also stemmed from The Wizard of Oz so I have many fond memories to go along with these nails :)
Have you brought any pins on Pinterest to life recently?
