I picked up this polish on an absolute whim the other day at Target; I'm sure subconsciously it was a treat to myself for getting a job and working hard at it for my first week there :)
So you know the drill: take the jump below to see more pictures and get a full review on this polish!!
I think what caught my eye about "buy me a cameo" was how beautifully original it is in color. It's a dusty pink/rose with a metallic finish so I'm sure most people would call this a "rose gold" but it really doesn't have any gold to it other than the gold undertone of the metallic finish.
On my skin it's an absolutely lovely nude pink but pops with the shiny hardware finish.
The only place that "buy me a cameo" falls short is the polish's formula. It's another example of why I hate the hype surrounding essie polishes since most of them have a watery consistency and thus application can get streaky and hard to make opaque. Thankfully the beautiful color helps me see past the formulation flaw though I'm sad that the consistency brings this polish down; I have little chips along the tips of my nails only after a day of wear.
How do you feel about essie polishes?
Do you buy into the hype or feel that they're a hit and miss brand like I do?
Have you seen a nail polish color like this before?
Love it? Hate it?
Do share!!
xoxo - Cassie
I find that with essie polishes too. They have an amazing range of colour but the formula is terrible. Personally I dont think they are worth the hype either x

I have such a large collection of Essie nail polish because they have the most fun colors! But I must admit, OPI last's longer. It just feels...thicker..you know what I mean? Anyways, that is a great color-thanks for posting!!!

I do like the Essie polishes I've tried, but they've all been creamy so maybe the problem lies with the shiny formula? xx

Megan: I'm so glad you agree with me!! I absolutely LOVE the colors they put out but have only been able to find a couple that are of really good quality when it comes to formula.
ReplyDeleteRubies and Emeralds: I'm in the same boat as you, haha!! I actually have more essie polishes than I'd like to admit since the formula is usually rubbish. O.P.I. are also some of my favorite polishes but I think Revlon tends to take the cake for me in terms of lasting power :)
Fernanda: Hmmm, could be but I have some 'regular' colors without any sort of metallic finish and they are just as runny and gross to work with :/ Like said, they're REALLY hit and miss so maybe you've just had good luck with your color selections and picked the few that are good formulas haha!! :)
Hi Cassie! I'm happy to know you are safe and okay where you live. We've had one too many typhoons this year too and just recently got a little house renovation because of the flooding. Typhoons are getting scarier and scarier every year.
ReplyDeleteStay nice and dry and happy Halloween!

Kathy: It really is scary to see the weather changing so drastically as the world keeps (d)evolving. Hopefully changes can be made so that we, and the future generations, don't have to worry so much about natural disaster (I'm a soppy idealist at heart). Thank you again for your warm wishes though!! You are so sweet for caring :)
ReplyDeleteMarcchanel'ette: Wow, what a comment full of love haha!! Nice to meet you and thank you for following my blog! We can definitely be friends so long as you'll have me :)
