Well everyone, we've made it to the end of October!! It's slightly bittersweet with the Hurricane having hit and devastated so many people on the coast during what should be a joyous and playful time of year, but thankfully it's over and we can move on with the support of our loved ones.
As usual, here's my Best & Worst of Beauty video for this month!! I hope you enjoy and find some products to try out (and also maybe a couple to avoid)! :)
Anywhew, I finally got around to picking up a couple more of these lovely lippies and wanted to share them with you today! So take the jump below for full details :)
I picked up this polish on an absolute whim the other day at Target; I'm sure subconsciously it was a treat to myself for getting a job and working hard at it for my first week there :)
So you know the drill: take the jump below to see more pictures and get a full review on this polish!!
Putting out videos that is... don't get too excited.
Ahem.
Here's my latest installment of weekly outfits for those of you missing the fashion element on my blog.
Let me know if you like it by giving it a thumbs up and/or subscribing to my YouTube channel!! :)
And to all of you on the East coast in the states getting ready for Hurricane Sandy to hit, my thoughts go out to you. Hopefully everyone has enough food, water, and shelter to get through this apparently-going-to-be-horrific storm... I'm right here with you and definitely missing Minnesota right about now haha!!
I had a falling out with this primer for almost two months now; maybe it was the fact that I got it for free, maybe I was under the illusion that I didn't need an eyeshadow primer. Either way, I made a horrible mistake in removing this from my life.
Sound extreme? I'm a bit dramatic by disposition, so yes, however I think e.l.f. deserves a bit of an ovation on this one. Take the jump below to see why!!
I swear, my blog has basically turned into a nail polish & nail art blog. I hope you guys don't mind... I've just been so cooped up working on my different art pieces for reapplication to the MFA program (still not sure about which schools to apply to; put all of my eggs in one basket or apply to mostly backup schools? Ughhhhh, this is one process I will never miss) this Winter. Basically, I haven't had much time to do anything else other than draw, paint, get orientation things for my new job (yes, I got the position that I talked about awhile ago!!) done, etc etc.
The one way that I love to unwind after all of the madness is painting my nails and this is my newest creation. Take the jump, as usual, for details!
I've kind of been putting off writing a new post for awhile now because I feel as though it should be something really exciting... why, you may ask?
Because this is my 100th post!!!!!
I can't believe I've written that many posts in the short four months that I've been blogging/on Youtube and couldn't be happier with all of the lovely people I've met, comments I've received, and friends I've made.
So really, thank you SO MUCH for all of your support and sweet words; the fact that my hobby has brought happiness, inspiration, and hopefully a few laughs into people's lives means more to me than you could ever imagine :)
Alright, mushy-gooshy feelings aside, here are my two latest videos from YouTube that I haven't posted here on my blog yet... one is beauty and one is fashion so I feel like it's the perfect way to celebrate my dual-natured blog!!
I hope everyone is doing well and having a fun (and productive, for all of my fellow students enduring midterms out there!!) weekend :)
(though that was a haiku, hehe...) today that are inspired by none other than Burberry. I love pretty much anything Burberry, from their delicious perfumes to their luxurious makeup, but haven't ever purchased anything since I don't feel good enough to use their beautiful products... not to mention the fact that I can't afford anything they sell, but let's ignore that little detail, shall we?
Take the jump to see what I used to get this look!
This month's Birchbox was one of their collaboration boxes. Granted, you had the option of picking whether you wanted this one or just a regular Birchbox but I couldn't decide so I let them pick for me. I'm both happy and sad with my box, but mostly very happy!
I had such a great day yesterday, so I definitely wanted to make sure I shared my outfit with you all! I mentioned in one of my "Thrift Tips" videos (somewhere on my YouTube channel) that I kind of wanted to have an outfit that looked like Shan Yu's from Mulan (which is actually really hard to find a picture of on Google... but here's an action figure of him that shows it off pretty well!); don't ask me why, but I just tend to find the villains in movies unexplainably sexy (I think it's my attraction to fantastic voices) and thus want to mimic their style, regardless of gender (though usually it's a man).
Take the jump to see the details of my Shan Yu inspired outfit!
Did anyone else notice how fantastic the date was/is today? Well, I hope you did... for some reason it just tickled my simple-things bone (if we have a funny bone, we must have one of these too).
Take the jump below if you want the dirty details (don't get too excited in the gutter) on my outfit!!
I forgot to post my new video that I uploaded to YouTube the other day, for those of you who are interested in watching; It's a video devoted to styling a dark, vampy lip that always starts to trend once the leaves start changing (and falling, and getting mushy and clogging the train tracks, and smelling, and...).
I hope you enjoy, and feel free to subscribe to my YouTube channel if you feel so inclined :)
So I know I just started a new series on YouTube of OOTW's (here's the link if you want to watch it!), but since this week is a short one (thanks for doing basically nothing innovative or new but somehow getting recognized in the future and receiving your own holiday; you're on the same level as Martin Luther King Jr. and you never even stepped foot on N. American land! Congrats player!!) I wanted to upload OOTD's here like before :)
Take the jump for my usual babble and outfit photos/details!
As much as we all hate to admit it, we're all hypocrites (and if you just scoffed to yourself and thought "no I'm not!", well... thanks for proving my point). This nail 'art' that I did today is proof of my own hypocrisy; for years (?) now, I've always stood by my hatred for this nail look. It popped up in fashion magazines, nail adds, seemingly everywhere and I always thought it just looked dirty.
I think I finally figured out though that the reason I thought it looked so nasty was the fact that it's typically done with black and a baby pink center, which just happens to be one of the cheapest color combinations (right up there with bright pink and brown) out there (I've worked a lot of weddings, so just trust me when I claim to know a thing or two about cheap and rich two-tone color palettes).
Take the jump to see more pictures and what I used (plus some pictures of Galileo)!!
Not the normal monthly sample goodies from Birchbox... these are much better!
Ever since I first signed up for my year long subscription from Birchbox, I've been saving up my feedback/reward points until I had enough to get myself a product I normally wouldn't indulge in at no cost to me. Yup. That's right. I didn't pay a single penny to get these two full sized products!
I've got a little something different for you today; instead of my normal nearly daily OOTD posts that I had been doing on here, I decided to film them instead and made a little YouTube video for you to watch! :)
I'm actually really happy with the way this worked out so this is what I'll be doing pretty much from now on except for weekend or other kinds of outfits. Hopefully that's okay and you enjoy the video!!
I have a job interview this afternoon (wish me luck!!) so I figured it would be a good idea to take off my slightly chipped "Pacific Blue" polish (from my last post) and slap on a jazzy, fresh coat of polish! This is one of my favorite polishes to date when I'm looking for something that packs a punch; butterLONDON's "Wallis" doesn't disappoint in any way shape or form.
Take the jump for more photos (and, of course, a bit of babble)!!
As I have mentioned many times in previous posts, I often succumb to peer pressure (though admittedly, I am usually just using peer pressure as an excuse to buy or wear something). With so many beauty bloggers and Youtubers going on lately about Sally Hansen's "Pacific Blue" nail polish, plus the fact that Sally Hansen's Xtreme wear polishes are some of my favorite formulas (up there is butterLONDON), I just couldn't help it. I held out my hand to shake peer pressure's mitt and in return he painted my nails this beautifully indescribable color (and also impossible to photograph).
Take the jump to see more photos and get an idea of how gorgeous of a polish this is (and, of course, to give yourself one more reason to buy yourself a bottle)!
To celebrate my living in Boston for a month and being extremely good about frivolous purchases, I decided to treat myself to a small shopping spree at Ulta!! A new Ulta just opened really close to my apartment so they had tons of deals and coupon offers going on (plus I had some rewards points to use!); I got all this for $15 and some change so take the jump with me to celebrate!
